As a teenager, Thomas enjoyed guitar and trumpet lessons, and from a young age played with local brass bands and brass ensembles at local functions. In the late 1980s, he began more serious study of Jazz Guitar with Thomas Reimer, and thereafter also played with local amateur jazz bands. For many years, Thomas was concurrently active as a dance and entertainment musician.

Thomas came to the Double Bass relatively late in his life. His studies included work with Martin Zenker, Klaus Hörberg, Manolo Diaz and Markus Fritsch.
Through projects, including The Walter-Lux-Jazz-Trio, The Baly-Khan-Big-Band, The Tracey Adele Cooper-Band, as well as his own bands, Thomas has gained a wealth of experience as a professional jazz bassist.
Thomas musical tastes include his great love for Hard Bop/Bebop, where he clearly has his musical roots. With a solid stroke, his rhythm is so propelling on his ascending walking bass lines that the feel of his sound is Pure Swing. Thomas is a solid musical companion, whose energy forms the backbone of any band. His traditional and reliable playing, along with his extensive musical repertoire make him a sought-after musician in the Munich area, to which his collaborations with international jazz musicians such as Gerhard Kraus, Omar Kabir, Gabor Bolla, Bernd Reiter, Alex Sanguinetti, Peter Tuscher can readly attest.
